Connect Your First Device

Prerequisites

  • Total Control installed on Windows PC
  • Android device (Android 6.x - 16)
  • USB data cable (preferably original manufacturer)

Step 1: Enable Developer Options

  1. Open Settings on your Android device
  2. Navigate to About Phone
  3. Tap Build Number 7 times
  4. You should see a toast message confirming Developer Options is enabled

Samsung Example

Settings > About Phone > Software Information > Build Number (tap 7 times)

Step 2: Enable USB Debugging

  1. Go to Settings > Developer Options
  2. Toggle USB Debugging ON
  3. For Xiaomi/Redmi phones: also enable USB Debug (Security Settings)

Xiaomi/Redmi/VIVO

If you can see the phone screen but cannot control it, or only single-point input works, you must enable USB Debug (Security Settings) in Developer Options.

Step 3: Connect via USB

  1. Connect the phone to the PC via USB cable
  2. Total Control automatically pushes its Android app to the device
  3. On the phone, check "Always allow from this computer" when the USB debugging prompt appears
  4. Total Control shows the device in the connection list

Step 4: Start Controlling

  1. Click Connect on the device in the list
  2. The device window opens showing the phone screen
  3. Click the toolbar icon to access controls
  4. Use mouse to click, swipe, and type on the device

Driver Installation

If the phone isn't detected, install drivers using one of these methods:

Verify Driver

  • Connection page should display the phone model correctly
  • Or run adb devices in command line — should show serial number
