TCP/WiFi Connection
Total Control supports wireless device connection over TCP on the same LAN.
Prerequisites
- PC and phone on the same local network
- Initial USB connection required once
- WiFi connection on the phone
Setup Steps
Connect phone via USB first
Phone gets IP address
Note IP from TC mobile app
Disconnect USB
Enter IP in PC client
TCP connection established
hammor
- Initial USB Connection — Connect the phone via USB at least once
- Get IP Address — The mobile app displays the device's IP address on its main page
- Enter IP in PC Client — Type the phone's IP address in the TC connection dialog
- Connect — Click connect to establish TCP connection
Security
TCP connections include a security confirmation. To avoid clicking "Agree" each time:
- Option A: Set a confirmation password
- Option B: Remove notification confirmation
Huawei Phones (Android 8.0+)
Enable "ADB debugging in Charge Only mode" in Settings > System > Developer Options to allow TCP connections.
Troubleshooting TCP
| Issue | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Connection fails | Different LANs | Ensure same access point |
| Connection fails | Firewall blocking | Disable firewall between devices |
| "Need USB connection first" | Background process stopped | Set USB to charging only before unplugging |
| Frequent disconnections | High latency/packet loss | Move closer to AP, reduce interference |
| "Agree" button doesn't appear | Phone compatibility | Remove notification confirmation, use password |
| Connection drops after screen off | Phone sleep settings | Turn off TCP sleep in phone settings, keep WiFi on during sleep |
Best Practices
- Use 5GHz WiFi for lower latency
- Position access point close to devices
- Allow TC app to run in background (especially for Huawei, OPPO, Xiaomi)
- For phone hotspot direct connection, connect PC directly to phone's hotspot
